Credit-Point System

Students who want to make use of our credit-point system must register at our Front Office at least three days prior to the examination date for the written diploma examination (see above) and fill out a form stating the attended courses and semesters. This form is used to determine the overall grade for the written examination calculated from the total amount of credit-points gained.

Credit-points are awarded for the following courses:

If all courses are attended students do not have to take part in the written test.

Written Test

Minimum requirements for taking the written test are the successful completion of one proseminar from the Electronic Commerce or New Media track and the successful completion of the seminar.

The written test is held three times per semester (see above) and is composed of the following parts:

All or some parts of the written test may be replaced by credit-point courses. We recommend to cover the entire written examination with credit-point courses; else the remaining parts AND an additional part covering the fundamentals of management information systems are subject to the exam and the weighting of already earned credit-points is reduced.

Recommended materials for the written test include:

Materials from the seminars and proseminars that cover issues beyond the recommended materials above are not subject to the written test.

During the written test no materials are permitted. The results of the written test are available two weeks after the exam.

Oral Examination

Students who have collected all their credit-points or have passed the written test may take the oral diploma examination. Students must register at the Front Office at least three days prior to the examination date for the oral diploma examination (see below).

The oral diploma examination covers overviews of and relationships between the course in Electronic Commerce und Neue Medien, the courses from the Electronic Commerce or New Media track, and one Elective Course. The fundamentals include knowledge from the Book Wirtschaftsinformatik I and relevant journals and magazines. The focus is directed towards new media and the new economy. Students may choose one question of the oral examination from their (information science) diploma thesis or from the book Wirtschaftsinformatik I.

Oral diploma examinations are held by Prof. Hansen, Prof. Neumann and Prof. Flatscher. Examination dates for Prof. Hansen and Prof. Neumann are assigned after the written test and must be collected at the Front Office at least three days prior to the examination date of the oral diploma examination.
